The Department of Swasthavritta Evam Yoga, Maharana Pratap Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Ishwariganj, Bithoor, Kanpur, successfully organized the International Day of Yoga 2026 on 21 June 2026 under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 275 faculty members, students, medical officers, administrative staff, and other employees of the institution.
The programme commenced with a prayer session led by Dr. Manish Singh, Medical Superintendent, invoking a sense of peace, harmony, and mindfulness among the participants. In his address, he highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental balance, and emotional well-being.
Dr. B. P. Patel, Principal, and Dr. Sumit Pandey enlightened the participants about the history, significance, and multifaceted benefits of yoga. They emphasized that regular yogic practices contribute significantly to healthy ageing, disease prevention, stress management, and overall quality of life.
The International Day of Yoga (IDY) Common Yoga Protocol Session was conducted by Dr. Vimla Sidar, Head of the Department of Swasthavritta Evam Yoga, along with Dr. Mamta Dwivedi, Yoga Instructor. The session included Sukshma Vyayama (loosening exercises), various Yogasanas, Pranayama practices, and Meditation. Participants actively performed all the practices with enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication.
A special Meditation and Laughter Yoga Session was subsequently conducted by Dr. Manish Singh, creating an atmosphere of positivity, relaxation, and joy. The session helped participants experience mental rejuvenation and emotional wellness.
The celebration was further enriched by Yoga Dance Performances presented by four student groups, which beautifully blended the principles of yoga with creativity and artistic expression. The performances captivated the audience and added vibrancy and enthusiasm to the event.
The programme concluded with a Group Photograph Session followed by the distribution of light refreshments to all participants.
The event was organized under the able guidance and encouragement of Dr. Alok Mishra, Director, whose constant support played a vital role in the successful conduct of the programme.
The successful organization of the event was made possible through the collective support and cooperation of all faculty members. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Priyanka Yadav and Dr. Jamuna Uranw for their dedicated efforts, active involvement, and valuable assistance throughout the programme. Their continuous support contributed significantly to the smooth and successful conduct of the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebration.
